Giuseppe Verdi, Messa da Requiem

Choir and Orchestra of St. Ignatius Loyola
K. Scott Warren, conductor

We close our 31st season triumphantly with sensory overload in the form of Verdi’s Requiem, which is scored for four soloists, double choir, large orchestra, and offstage instrumental forces. At once consoling and utterly terrifying, this massive testament of spiritual gravitas premiered on May 22, 1874 at another San Marco, this one in Milan. It is fitting that this music will once again find a home within the grand Italian Baroque architecture of St. Ignatius Loyola.

This event will not take place as scheduled as part of measures to slow the spread of COVID-19. It will be rescheduled during the 2020-21 season. All tickets will be honored on the rescheduled date. If you prefer a refund, please contact us at concerts@stignatiusloyola.org. Further details will be communicated in the late spring.
